Years 7/8 County Tennis Finals

School tennis players from across the county came to the Next Generation Centre in Swindon to compete at the county finals. The schools had previously won their zone competition and had the chance to compete against other schools within the county to become crowned champions. The Girl's competition saw South Wilts, Kingdown and Ridgeway compete against each other, while in the Boy's competition, Ridgeway, Avon Valley and St Augustine's battled it out amongst each other.

South Wilts - Girl's WinnersThe excellent facilities and playing surface at Next Generation were appreciated by the pupils. This was evident on the courts with some great tennis on show, including great individual shots and team rallies. The Girl's competition was won by South Wilts from the South Zone who won both their matches. Kingdown came second with Ridgeway in third place.

St Augustine's - Boy's WinnersThe Boy's competition was won by the impressive St Augustine's from the West Zone who won both matches and all the games within the matches. Ridgeway came second with Avon Valley finishing third. Congratulations to the winning schools of the first county tennis finals aimed at school players.

Years 5/6 County Tag Rugby Finals

Years 5/6 County Tag Rugby FinalsWarminster Rugby Club hosted the County Tag Rugby Finals on 30th April 2010. 24 teams from schools across Wiltshire competed in the finals to become the Wiltshire winners. The morning started with the schools being split into 5 groups playing in a round robin format. After the initial group stages, teams were put into groups depending on their finishing places after the morning competition.

The afternoon competition was similar to the morning one and with the fast pace of tag rugby there were some very good games with lots of try's being scored. Overall Broadchalke from the Salisbury Schools Sports Partnership were crowned champions for winning the afternoon league. They along with Clarendon who finished second will go and represent the county in the Regional finals.

The competition was run by the RFU development Officer and supported by Competition Managers, Warminster Rugby Club and volunteers who all contributed to make the competition enjoyable for all that took part.

Secondary State School County Netball Finals

On Friday 26th March, state schools from across Wiltshire and Swindon took part in the second successive county netball finals at Dorcan School. The schools that qualified for the competition had previously won their respective zone league or competition and had the chance to compete against schools from other zones. South Wilts Grammar in the south zone, St Augustine's in the west zone and Bradon Forest in the north zone all had made it into three or four of the year group finals showing that netball within their school was developing well.

The competition was supported from representative of Wiltshire Netball, Competition Managers and officials from local clubs. Throughout the competition there was a great standard of netball on display with many games closely contested.

Devizes School played host to this year's Primary Hockey County FinalsCompetition Manager (Salisbury & South Avon Valley)

County High 5 Netball Finals

County Hi 5 FinalsOn 19th March, 24 primary schools from across Wiltshire and Swindon took part in the High 5 County Netball Finals at Dorcan in Swindon. The schools had qualified for the competition at local School Sports Partnership events. After the first round in pools had been completed, teams then played in play-off games to determine their final finishing position.

A very exciting final took place between All Cannings (Mid Wilts Partnership) and St Marks (Salisbury Partnership) with All Cannings being crowned champions.

The standard of play throughout the competition was high, closely contested with some great netball play. All schools got the opportunity to play games against other schools from around Wiltshire and Swindon.

The finals were supported with help of local officials, Netball Development Officers for Wiltshire and Swindon and young leaders from Dorcan School making the competition run smoothly.

Primary School Hockey 2010 County Finals

Teams from across Wiltshire and Swindon came together to compete for the chance to become the 2010 champions .

The first stage of the tournament saw the teams placed in 3 groups to determine where they would play in 2nd round of play off matches.

In the play off stages, New Forest, St Johns and Ramsbury qualified for the play offs as runners up in their groups and New Forest ensured they remained undefeated throughout the day to claim 4th, Ramsbury 5th and St Johns 6th.

The group winners were brought together to compete for the top 3 places. It proved to be an exciting battle for the crown with 3 close games - however defending champions All Cannings A managed to defend their title and emerge as the 2010 county champions with Holt in 2nd and Robert Le Kyng in 3rd.

Badminton ChampionshipsCenter Parcs National Schools Badminton Championships

14 teams from 11 secondary schools across Wiltshire attended the county final of the Center Parcs National Schools Badminton Championships held at Tidworth Leisure Centre on 21st January. The county was divided into four zones for the first round of the competition and the winners of each zone were invited to today's county final. The full report may be downloaded here.

U11 Boy's, Girl's and Small Schools County Football Finals


On Tuesday 26th January 2010, 23 teams took part in the U11 Wiltshire County Football Finals at Stanley Park in Chippenham. All five School Sports Partnerships from across Wiltshire and Swindon were represented in three different categories; boy's, girl's and small schools. Leaders from Sheldon and Hardenhuish Secondary School also attended the day to act as the match officials. The full report may be downloaded here.
