Melksham Kwick CricketFinal Game Decider in Melksham Kwick Cricket

The Melksham Kwik Cricket competition was decided in the very last game of the tournament held at the George Ward School. The tournament, which was held over two weeks, saw Aloeric at the top of the league at the start of the second set of games, and they just had to beat St George’s Semington to win the tournament.

The rules of Kwik Cricket meant that a team which lost wickets also lost runs and a good bowling performance by St George’s saw them pick up a number of wickets, giving them a close win by 9 runs. This meant that if The Manor won the other game, there would be a 3 way tie with Aloeric winning on the greater number of runs scored. If Seend won, there would be a two way tie between Aloeric and St George, and the winner of the game between these teams would win the competition. In the end Seend, who previously had not won a game, beat The Manor to give St George’s their first victory in this competition’s ten year history.
