ABOUT THE WEST WILTSHIRE PARTNERSHIP

West Wiltshire Schools Sports Partnership covers the five market towns of West Wiltshire.

The boundary is the same as West Wiltshire District Council and the Parliamentary Area of Westbury. The five towns are Warminster, Westbury, Melksham, Bradford-on-Avon and the county town, Trowbridge.

All seven secondary schools are comprehensive schools with their own sixth forms. All the primary schools and special needs schools in West Wiltshire plus four primary schools outside the district boundary are part of the partnership. Three schools are Catholic Schools, which feed St. Augustine's Roman Catholic School and Seend C.E. Primary School which feeds George Ward School in Melksham.

The hub school of the Partnership is Kingdown Sports College, Warminster, where the Partnership Development Manager (PDM) is based.

The Partnership is responsible for devising and implementing many different strategies to engage students in physical actives. Her is just one example:

Huff & Puff

Every primary school in the West Wiltshire Schools Sports Partnership runs the Huff & Puff programme at lunchtime for part of the year. Many of the schools now run the Young Leaders Award so that year 5 and 6 children take over the running of the scheme. The photos show the scheme at work at Christchurch School where they have developed a system whereby the Young Leaders run an equipment shop for the Infants and Juniors where they collect their equipment.
